The Russo Brothers Call ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ a “Complete Reinvention”
by Justin Hermes ·
The upcoming Marvel adventure will bring together heroes from across space and time while also serving as the penultimate installment in the Multiverse Saga.

Featuring an extensive cast that includes the Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts, Fox X-Men, and numerous Avengers, including Captain America, Thor, Ant-Man, Black Panther, Shang-Chi, Namor, Loki, and more, expectations for the film are understandably high.
The Film Has Been Praised By Its Stars
In the lead-up to the release of Avengers: Doomsday, the film has been described as “absolutely brilliant” by Tom Hiddleston, a “love letter” to the superhero genre by Simu Liu, and a return to form by Anthony Mackie.

Now, the Russo Brothers have broken their silence on the film.
A “Complete Reinvention”
During a recent interview, Anthony Russo set the stage for Avengers: Doomsday, and he did not mince words.

“Doomsday is a complete reinvention. It’s another swing. I don’t think the audience is expecting it at all,” he teased (via AGBO).
“What happens in the movie, its tone, and its subject matter. It feels like another profound shift for them in that serialized story.”
The Russos Want to Top ‘Infinity War’ and ‘Endgame’
Shortly after it was revealed that the Russo Brothers would direct Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, the brothers made it clear they were returning to Marvel to top their previous efforts.

“Why would we come back if we didn’t feel like we had a story that had that possibility of being on an equal footing with Infinity War and Endgame unless there’s a kernel there for an idea that’s really explosive?” they asked
While we will have to wait until December to see if Doomsday can live up to the hype, everything we have heard so far sounds positive.

If the Russos can stick the landing, the Marvel multiverse will owe them a debt of gratitude.
