Production to Resume on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
There is some very good news to report from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)! According to a report from Australia’s 7 News, work is actively being done on sets for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in Sydney.
The news outlet showed footage of the film crew back to work constructing sets. Furthermore, the film’s cast has returned to the area. According to reports, production is set to resume within the next few days.
Film Release Delayed
Like many planned Marvel films and shows, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ production was brought to a halt when the coronavirus pandemic hit. Not only that, the film’s release date has been delayed until May 2021. (It had previously been scheduled for release in February).
Actors Ready to Resume Filming
Many stars of the film are already known, but some remain a guarded secret. What we do know is that Simu Liu will star as Shang-Chi, Marvel’s master of kung fu. The Madarin will be played by Tony Leung. Awkwafina and Ronny Cheng will also appear, though we do not know which roles they will play.
There have been a good number of rumors swirling around Michelle Yeoh’s involvement in the film. It looks like the actress confirmed her role with a string of social media posts from Australia, the first of which is her receiving a COVID test.

Plans to Resume Production Taking Shape
The cast and crew of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ received the following note:
“As many of you know, Destin, our director, has a newborn baby. He wanted to exercise additional caution given the current environment and decided to get tested for Covid-19 today. He is currently self-isolating under the recommendation of his doctor. While he waits for the results of the test, we are suspending 1st unit production in an abundance of caution until he gets the results this coming week. Second unit and off production will continue as normal. We will reach out to everyone by Tuesday for the latest update. This is an unprecedented time. We appreciate everyone’s understanding as we work through this.”
Marvel fans can look forward to seeing Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in theaters on May 7, 2021.
