Fortnite Season 4 to Feature Marvel!
Epic Games has announced a new season of Fortnite will kick off on August 27. On Friday morning, Epic confirmed that Fortnite Season 4 will feature Marvel characters.
Fortnite Season 3, which is partially DC-themed, will officially wrap up on August 27. The Marvel-themed takeover will begin on August 28.
What We Know
We know that Thor and several X-Men will be part of the new season. But it appears that several of the Fortnite Marvel characters will be from newer Marvel comics.
At 10 a.m. Eastern on Friday, Epic Games tweeted a 12-second video clip. The clip featured the Fornite logo and a blonde figure with lightening in their eyes. The caption included three emojis – for a hammer, lightning bolt and rainbow (likely referencing the Bifrost bridge Thor travels by).

The newly-released image makes clear that Season 4 will utilize Marvel character designs from the comics, instead of the Marvel Avengers game or the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). We know this mainly because of the black “V” on Thor’s forehead. This is consistent with Thor’s comic redesign, which launched in January of this year.
Additional Characters Rumored to Appear
In addition to Thor, the digital rumor mill has been swirling with theories about which additional Marvel characters will be part of the new Season. Several additional skins are rumored to be included, such as Wolverine, Storm, Groot, Iron Man, Doctor Doom and Galactus.
As comic fans will notice, these characters hail from a wide variety of Marvel entities, not just the MCU.
Donald Mustard, Worldwide Creative Director at Epic Games, has hinted that this is the culmination of something huge. He has implied the Marvel storyline will have a major impact on the overall Fortnite story. Yesterday he tweeted:
It’s ALL connected. Pay attention. The story is about to kick into overdrive…

What History Tells Us
We know that Epic Games introducers “teasers” for its new seasons about one week before their release. In the past, the company has tweeted new images every day leading up to a new season’s launch. The good news here is that we should learn of new characters in the coming days!
Epic Games has not announced whether the new theme will be “Avengers” or a more broad “Marvel.” Based upon the image released of Thor, we do know the character designs align more with Marvel comics than Crystal Dynamics’ Marvel’s Avengers game.
Who Will Experience the New Season?
Unfortunately, mobile players may not experience the excitement of Fortnite Season 4. A recent legal and regulatory battle has materialized between the developer and Apple.
As a result, Fortnite is no longer available in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. It is unknown whether or not this will change before the release of Season 4.
We hope the legal situation sorts itself before August 28! In the meantime, fans with gaming consoles are gearing up for the release of Fortnite Season 4 and its special feature of Marvel characters!
