New Trailer Released for Marvel’s Behind the Mask
On Tuesday, February 2nd, 2021, Marvel Studios released a new trailer for the upcoming Disney+ documentary, Marvel’s Behind the Mask, which takes a look at the individuals who take on the mantles of superheroes.
The Marvel’s Behind the Mask Trailer
The Marvel’s Behind the Mask trailer features appearances by many of the individuals who were interviewed for the documentary, Marvel’s 616, which was released for streaming on Disney+ in November 2020. And each of the creators listed below talk about what makes the stories in Marvel comics special to them, and how they helped to bring the stories to a much wider audience.
Who Is Featured in the Behind the Mask Documentary?
Several of the people interviewed are those who work behind the editorial scenes making comics at Marvel, including Joe Quesada, EVP and Creative Director of Marvel, and Jeanine Schaefer, one of the editors at Marvel.

And there are plenty of the creatives who have been responsible for making your very favorite Marvel comics, too, including writer/editors like Larry Hama, writer/illustrators like Nicole J. Georges, writer Tony Isabella, writer Christopher Priest, writer Kelly Sue Deconnick, writer Ivan Velez, Jr., writer Brian Michael Bendis, and writer Reginald Hudlin.

What Else Can We Expect from Behind the Mask?
There are also appearances by several scholars, including Henry Jenkins, a media scholar at USC, Rabbi Simcha Weinstein, the Chair of Religious Affairs at Pratt Institute, and John Ira Jennings, the Professor of Media Studies at UCR and the curator and founder of the Abrams MEGASCOPE line of comics.

And there are interviews with people who have connections to the stories in other ways, like Neal Kirby, the son of Jack Kirby, as well as musicians like Darryl “DMC” McDaniels, who took inspiration from the pages of Marvel Comics and used it to fuel his dreams of hip hop stardom.

The Marvel’s Behind the Mask documentary will be available for streaming on Disney+ next week, on Thursday, February 11th, 2021.
