Call Him Kravey! Keanu Reeves Tracked Down for Role
We’ve already heard the rumors that Keanu Reeves (Matrix, John Wick, Point Break) is coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and now with our ears on the pavement, we are also beginning to hear the wheels of the Kra-Van coming. Here, at MarvelBlog, we’ve been using our well-honed tracking skills to hunt down exactly what those rumors mean for the MCU. And it seems the hunt is finally over.

Sony Offers Keanu Reeves Kraven Role
Sony Pictures has reportedly offered Keanu Reeves the role of Kraven the Hunter in the villain’s first solo spin-off movie. According to The Illuminerdi, Sony has made an “official offer” to the actor; however, the starring role in Kraven is not a done deal.

Kraven is part of the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Comics characters, which is also home to Tom Hardy‘s Venom and Jared Leto‘s Morbius, in addition to all the Spider-Mans. So far, the movie is being described as a “mashup” between the R-rated action dramas 2017’s Logan and 2004’s Man on Fire.
Will Keanu Reeves Join the MCU?
Marvel Studios Chief Creative Officer and President Kevin Feige, a creative lead on Sony’s Spider-Man franchise reboot, previously told ComicBook.com, that Marvel talks to Reeves “for almost every film [it] makes.” But it seems, despite really wanting the actor to join the MCU, the studio hadn’t figured out “the right way” to bring him on before now.

If Reeves accepts the offer, it will end Marvel and Sony’s years-long hunt for its Kraven. As the two studios continued their search for the perfect hunter this year, rumors ran rampant about who might get cast for the part, including fan favorite casting choices like John Boyega and Stefan Kapičić. The Kraven movie would also mark the actor’s first superhero role since portraying DC’s John Constantine in the 2005 Constantine adaptation.

In August 2020, Sony and Marvel hired filmmaker J.C. Chandor (Triple Frontier) to direct the solo Kraven spin-off. However, the details surrounding the movie still remain scant, kind of like Olivia Wilde’s confirmed secret Marvel movie. Are you excited for Keanu Reeves as Kraven?
