Shang-Chi LEGO Set May Have Revealed His Costume
Something really exciting leaked yesterday: the first look at actor Simu Liu‘s costume for Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
In the latest leak, Liu’s version of Shang-Chi appears on a Marvel LEGO set wearing his black and red costume, with the character’s logo across the chest of the red costume. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is planned for theatrical release this summer, and it will introduce the first leading Asian superhero to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting a trailer for the forthcoming film, but nothing official has been released yet so a picture of a new Marvel LEGO set offering a glimpse at the Shang-Chi costume will have to do for now.
Shang-Chi Marvel LEGO Set
The new Marvel LEGO set “Battle at the Ancient Village” features an image of Liu, the Chinese-Canadian actor best known for his role in the sitcom Kim’s Convenience. On the LEGO set box, Liu’s Shang-Chi is dressed in a red and black suit, with his logo appearing on the chest, and black pants. The LEGO mini-figure also appears on the box in the same outfit.
In addition to the starring hero, Shang-Chi, several other characters appear on the box, including Meng’er Zhang as Xialing, Tony Chiu-Wai Leung as Wenwu, and Death Dealer.
In the comics, Death Dealer is a nemesis of Shang-Chi. On the image on LEGO set, they seem to be locked in some sort of battle with Wenwu, which is potentially an alias for The Mandarin, as well as a blue-fire breathing dragon.
Valley of the Sleeping Fin Fang Foom
The giant dragon on the box that is spewing blue fire out of its mouth is of particular interest. First scooped several months ago by Charles Murphy of Murphy’s Multiverse, the appearance of the dragon on the box could hint at the Valley of the Sleeping Dragon, which first appeared in Iron Man #261, and the appearance of Fin Fang Foom.
Fin Fang Foom is a green dragon in the comics, not a red and white dragon like the LEGO set. However, it’s important to remember that Marvel Studios is the master of misdirection, and they don’t always depict the actual scenes from the movie on the LEGO set box – for spoiler reasons.
With the movie’s release date finally coming up, fans will hopefully get a real glimpse at Shang-Chi and the rest of the cast soon, and maybe we will get to see if they are going up against a giant green (or red and white) dragon as the big bad in the upcoming movie.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings Coming July
Filming of the Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings finally wrapped in November 2020 after facing several delays due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to Liu, Shang-Chi stars Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan, Ronny Chieng as Jon Jon, Fala Chen as Jiang Li, Florian Munteanu as Razor Fist, and Awkwafina as Katy.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will be released on July 9th, 2021.
