MCU Disney+ ‘For Your Consideration’ Emmy Posters
New “For Your Consideration” posters have been released by Marvel Studios urging voters to consider WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier for the upcoming Emmy Awards. The two Disney+ series are the first Marvel Cinematic Universe stories to be told through the medium of television – sorry, Marvel TV projects. As such, the studio is pulling out all the stops to insure the shows get due consideration come the 2021 award season.
At Marvel Blog, we think it’s about time the superhero genre got its due, as the stories told through the medium echo across generations.
For Your Consideration: WandaVision
First up is the poster for WandaVision, which includes a quote from Brett White at Decider about how the show may be the “best show about television to ever exist.” White’s review is a great quote to use, since if there’s one thing we can be reasonably certain of, it’s that Emmy voters care about, it’s television.
The poster also includes a quote from Lucy Mangan‘s review of the series in The Guardian, saying that each episode felt “like a gift.”
The poster also includes images from throughout the sitcom-superhero mashup, showing off the show’s extensive visual range and ensuring that Agatha Harkness gets her due (and let’s face it, between her scene-stealing fashion and her show-stopping song, there’s one character who was working overtime on WandaVision all along).
For Your Consideration: The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
Meanwhile, the poster for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier gets personal, even including the names of some of the critics who reviewed the show, and not just their associated media outlets. Mostly, the marketing for the this show’s awards push is focused on the deeper thematic concerns of the series, with a quote from Lorraine Ali of the Los Angeles Times noting the show’s willingness to grapple with the realities of racial inequity.
However, in his review on Good Morning America, Peter Travers also noted the roles the actors played in bringing nuance to their characters onscreen, which allowed The Falcon and the Winter Soldier to explore timely issues in a believable manner.
Which Poster Is Your Favorite?
One complaint we have, Marvel Blog True Believers: we want to see Elizabeth Olsen as the Scarlet Witch and Anthony Mackie as Captain America on these posters! While their costumes are something of a reveal for their shows, only being unveiled in their respective season finales, these new character designs are just too good to omit.
