Need
The clip opens with Katy (Awkwafina) asking Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) where his shirt went, but he just shrugs. It probably went where the shirts of every other male lead in a Marvel movie ends up, Marvel Blog True Believers! Maybe there’s a shirt-stealing supervillain hiding in limbo who we’ll be introduced to in Phase Five.
However, as those who witnessed Liu’s “Got Milk” campaign can attest, the conversation in Phase Four is less about who the “strongest Avenger” might be and more about who the “hottest Avenger” is (and I don’t mean Ghost Rider) – Liu’s words, not mine.
The Ten Rings
The other seriously revelatory footage delivered by this clip is seeing the tituar Ten Rings in action! It looks as though these powerful artifacts rest upon the arms before being projected outwards once activated.
The Ten Rings were once used by Shang-Chi’s father to rule his criminal organization with an iron fist (pun intended, true believers)… but now that Shang-Chi has inherited the powerful objects, their energy can be put towards more heroic ends.
In addition to the Ten Rings, we also saw more of the chase scene through the streets of San Francisco, California, which looks like it will be dealing all kinds of damage to the local public transportation. You know… those buses were probably due for an update, anyway, especially after the Ant-Man fiasco of 2018.
Arriving This Autumn
Shang-Chi is breaking ground with Marvel’s first Asian lead. The film will also star Tony Leung Chiu-Wai as Wenwu, Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan, Meng’er Zhang as Xialing, Fala Chen as Jiang Li, Ronny Chieng as Jon Jon, and Florian Munteanu as Razor Fist.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will arrive at a theater near you on September 3rd, 2021. Will you be journeying out to witness the latest entry in the MCU yourself? We’re waiting to hear from you, Marvel Blog True Believers! Let us know what you’re thinking in the comment section.
