Letitia Wright Recovering from Minor Injury on Black Panther 2 Set
According to Entertainment Weekly, Letitia Wright is recovering from minor stunt injuries she sustained on the set of Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever. Although she was hospitalized after the accident, she was released this morning.
Black Panther 2 Filming in Boston
Although primary filming for Black Panther 2 is happening in Atlanta, the 27-year-old actress, who plays Shuri in the franchise, is currently on location for a scene in Boston, Massachusetts.
Wright was injured while filming a sequence with a stunt rig on Wednesday, August 25th, 2021, on the set of the upcoming sequel, Wakanda Forever, which will once again be directed by Ryan Coogler. However, the exact nature of her injuries have not been disclosed to the public.
“Letitia Wright sustained minor injuries today while filming a stunt for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. She is currently receiving care in a local hospital and is expected to be released soon,” a spokesperson for Marvel told Deadline on Wednesday.
According to Entertainment Weekly, since Marvel’s official statement to Deadline, Wright has been released from the hospital and “the incident isn’t expected to have an impact on Wakanda Forever‘s filming schedule.” At Marvel Blog, we’re just glad she’s home and recovering from her injuries!
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
Wright isn’t the only Black Panther actor to return for the sequel. Several other actors are returning for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, with Lupita Nyong’o calling her work on the sequel “emotionally correct.”
Previous stars Daniel Kaluuya, Danai Gurira, Angela Bassett, and Winston Duke are also expected to be back.
New additions to the cast include I May Destroy You creator Michaela Coel, as well as Dominique Thorne, who is making her debut as Riri Williams (A.K.A. Ironheart) in Wakanda Forever before starring in Ironheart on Disney+.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be released in theaters on July 8th, 2022.
