Heads Up, Web-Heads: SPIDER-MAN 1978 Merch from Team Liquid!
In an article posted to the official Marvel Entertainment website on Thursday, September 30th, 2021, a brand-new collaboration between Team Liquid Apparel and Marvel, based on Spider-Man 1978, was released!
The LIQUID X MARVEL collab features 14 distinct pieces of stylish streetwear – including short- and long-sleeved shirts, high-quality hoodies, and even a beanie – all inspired by the live-action Japanese Spider-Man series that was the result of a partnership between Marvel Comics and Toei, creator of Kamen Rider and Super Sentai.

The Spider-Man 1978 Collection
If you haven’t heard of Spider-Man 1978 yet, today is your lucky day: if you boot up Disney+ and check out Marvel’s 616, the documentary anthology series that was released in November 2020, the very first episode is all about this classic Spidey series, featuring interviews with the actors and creators behind the show.

According to a quote in the article from Team Liquid’s Apparel Business Manager Logan Leavitt, the company is eager to take part in collaborations that connect different communities – and he cites Spider-Man 1978 as a property that did just that, connecting the American Marvel superheroes with Japanese live-action martial arts and mech shows, making the show the ideal subject for this team-up.

I know, I know this isn’t based off Ultraman, but if this shirt doesn’t remind you of the Ultraman beam pose, then I don’t know what to tell ya? And, I’m willing to admit there may be a better reference that I’m missing here.
