While these symbiotes may be scary, the video makes them look adorable as it counts them down (and shares their respective special powers). But a fair warning to Joyce Carol Oates: this video uses the singular “they” (and it never even gets confusing)!
Top 5 Symbiotes
The video includes a listing of the top five Marvel Comics symbiotes, along with a brief description of the unique abilities and backstory they each respectively possesses.
It will come as no surprise to anyone that the top symbiote is Venom.
The original symbiote to arrive in the panels of Marvel Comics back in 1988 bonded with Peter Parker (and subsequently gained a powerset and appearance that heavily evokes Spider-Man’s).
Next up is Carnage!
The serial killer turned high-profile second generation symbiote casts a long shadow in Marvel Comics, so it makes sense that he’s included here. He first appeared in 1992.
The video goes on to cover Scream, who recently played a significant role in the Extreme Carnage crossover event… In fact, that’s actually the character’s final appearance, as their host ends up bonding with another symbiote, Silence.
Then we meet Anti-Venom, who has some very unique abilities, such as being able to heal sick people and purge other symbiotes (learn more about the awesome power-set here).
Rounding out the top 5, there’s Scorn, who first appeared in 2011 and can absorb machinery into their body. Scorn first appeared as Carnage’s enemy; however, somewhere along the way, she decided to worship the evil murder alien instead… and Cletus had a thing or two to ∗slay∗ about that…
