ANDREW GARFIELD: To Thwip or Not to Twhip
In an interview posted to the Guardian’s website on Friday, November 5th, 2021, reporter Ryan Gilbey went to great lengths to point out that he didn’t ask Andrew Garfield whether or not the actor would be appearing in the highly-anticipated upcoming threequel, Spider-Man: No Way Home.
No Way Garfield?
The interview opens with three full multi-sentence paragraphs about how Gilbey didn’t ask Garfield whether or not he’d be appearing in No Way Home.
There’s a reason for the extended explanation, Marvel Blog True Believers. As the most devoted among you will recall, we previously reported on the actor’s statements that he would not be appearing in No Way Home.
“I did not get a call,” Garfield stated in a May 2021 interview… but look at it this way: this could still be a technically true statement, provided Garfield got an email (or a text message, or an in-person proposition, etc.) about appearing in the movie rather than a phone call!
As we approach the scheduled December 17th, 2021 release date for the movie, you can expect more and more speculation about what we may or may not see in the conclusive movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man trilogy.
With villains from the Spider-Man movies that starred Garfield and Tobey Maguire (who suspiciously rejoined Twitter recently) have been confirmed for the third MCU Spidey outing, the studio has stopped short of saying that all three Spideys will be in the mix… but it looks pretty likely, doesn’t it, Marvel Blog True Believers?
What About Venom?
In addition to speculation about the appearance of past Spideys, there’s also Venom-related speculation surrounding both Topher Grace (who had a great response) and Tom Hardy (who even has relevant headgear).
What additional rumors will emerge between now and mid-December? We can’t tell at this junction, Marvel Blog True Believers – but you can bet we’ll be there to cover them when they arrive!
