Benedict Cumberbatch Talks ‘Doctor Strange 2’ Reshoots
One of the stories coming out about the remaining projects of Marvel’s Phase Four slate featured the news of massive reshoots taking over Sam Raimi’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness; the films lead, Benedict Cumberbatch, talks Doctor Strange reshoots, and if there is a cause for concern.
A film not short on anticipation and expectation, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will act as the sequel to Marvel’s Doctor Strange, and see our favorite Sorceror Supreme take on the biggest threat to the entirety of the MCU yet; the multiverse.
Rumored to contain appearances by Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff- now equipped the Scarlet Witch thanks to Agatha Harkness and the events of WandaVision– the film will see these three magically powerful characters face off against the impending threats of the multiverse.
These threats will undoubtedly begin to manifest in next months Spider-Man: No Way Home; which will feature Doctor Strange as one of the lead characters of the film, as he helps Peter Parker take on a plethora of unknown multiversal threats.
It has been recently revealed, however, that this highly anticipated Doctor Strange sequel has undergone some massive reshoots; a fact that has caused much concern over their unknown reasoning.
We may have some more information as Doctor Strange himself, Benedict Cumberbatch talks Doctor Strange 2 Reshoots.
ComicBook.com reported an interview in which Cumberbatch pointed to the COVID pandemic of the last year as a major part in the delayed production, making reshoots a necessity for the completion of the film; and for that film to measure up to the anticipation it has received, and the high standard of excellence Marvel expects.
“Were in the middle of reshoots, “Cumberbatch was reported as stating. “We’re working incredibly hard to make a schedule work to realize the full potential of the film- bits that we want to do better but also bits that were just impossible to do on the day because of logistics, COVID, etc.”
The veteran Doctor Strange actor also stated, “We were so delayed in production, because of that, luckily, not doing production too much. Although everything is just a little slower.”
Cumberbatch concluded, “we’re making it even better: we’ve got some reshoots coming up in November and December, and it comes out in May. And I guess you’ll have to wait until then…”
Fans certainly can’t wait to see how the adventure unfolds for Doctor Strange, Wanda, and Loki; or what awaits them in this Multiversal mystery.
