2021’s Top 10 Marvelous Musical Moments
2021 was filled with Marvelous musical moments!
Here’s Marvel Blog’s countdown of the top ten Marvelous musical moments from the movies and shows that debuted from Marvel Studios in 2021.
-
Black Hole Gun (Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K.)
We all know that the dialogue in Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K. on Hulu was filled with hilarious references to pop music. Of all of these, my favorite had to have been M.O.D.O.K.’s allusion to lyrics from the Soundgarden song “Black Hole Sun,” which was changed to “Black Hole Gun.”
The line was recently referenced in the third episode of Spider-Bot, the ongoing Infinity Comic on Marvel Unlimited. 2021 was the Year of the Black Hole Gun!
-
Little Simz cameo (Venom 2)
The sequel to Venom, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, not only featured Little Simz on the soundtrack, she also appeared in the movie in a cameo role!
-
Rogers (Hawkeye)
In the first season of Hawkeye (and in the background of certain shots in Spider-Man: No Way Home), the triumph of the Avengers in New York City has become a hit Broadway musical!
Marvel Studios Head-Boss-in-Charge Kevin Feige even recruited real-life Broadway legends Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman to write the song that was featured in Hawkeye’s first season.
-
Fall Out Boy’s Stump (Spidey and His Amazing Friends)
One of the members of Fall Out Boy, Patrick Stump, was recruited to write the theme song for Spidey and His Amazing Friends!
-
Daniel Rojas (Hulu Marvel shows)
Composer Daniel Rojas didn’t just work on one Marvel animated show on Hulu this year, he worked on two, offering two very different sounding soundtracks for Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K. and Hit-Monkey.
-
Luna Snow (MARVEL Super War)
Technically Luna Snow debuted in MARVEL Super War on December 24th, 2020, but we’re going to count the K-Pop star character, who is voiced by Victoria Grace, as part of 2021’s list, because we cover her back in January.
-
Nirvana Cover (Black Widow)
The arresting opening of Black Widow was set to a cover by Malia J of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Team Spirit.”
In Marvel Blog’s interview with Perception Studios, we learned that they were behind the inclusion of this song in the opening credits. Read more in our upcoming interviews, Marvel Blog True Believers!

Shang-Chi Soundtrack
The Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings soundtrack is filled with awesome songs by a variety of great musicians.
And many of the musicians who contributed music to the soundtrack were present at the world premiere of Shang-Chi in August 2021, the first in-person premiere since the advent of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020.
-
Classic Loki’s Finest Hour (Loki)
There were many instances of Natalie Holt’s soundtrack for the first season of Loki being incredible, but my very favorite moment might have to be when Classic Loki stands against Alioth in the penultimate episode of the show’s first season.
-
“Agatha All Along” (WandaVision)
