One of the most dominant films of 2021 has shown few signs of slowing down, and despite recent developments, it appears as though Spider-Man: No Way Home is likely to reclaim the top spot at the box office.
Marvel has become one of the greatest success stories in the history of cinema, with a Cinematic Universe spanning a decade of works, and a plethora of individual characters and franchises.
With a theatrical run that has been placed among the most successful films of all time, Spider-Man: No Way Home has few peers in its financial and critical dominance among that vast Marvel catalog.
With five weeks of box office supremacy under its belt, it appeared as though the dominance was coming to an end, as the latest installment of the iconic horror franchise, Scream, surpassed Spider-Man: No Way Home during the latter’s box office debut.
A development that could prove to be short-lived, it is being reported that Spider-Man: No WAy Home is likely to reclaim the top spot at the box office.
ComicBook.com first brought the story to light, noted that the latest Spider-Man film is estimated to have a $13.5 million sixth weekend; with Scream dropping around 61% of its opening weekend numbers, to $11.7 Million.
One of the most brutal and tragic films in the history of the MCU, Spider-Man: No Way Home explored the very nature of the character of Peter Parker, and the weight of heroism placed on the shoulders of a young boy who embodies the youthful desire to do the right thing.
Celebrating 20 years of Spider-Man’s history on the big screen, Spider-Man: No Way Home used Peter Parker’s of cinema’s past to help teach the MCU’s iteration of the character the very vital lesson of what it means to truly do the right thing; to do things the way Spider-Man always should.
Spider-Man: No Way Home has proven to be one of the most successful comic book adaptations of all time, and only time will tell if a film can take its place at the mountaintop.
Thus far, it’s shown no sign of slowing down.
