Thunerbolt Ross Actor, William Hurt, Passes Away at 71
A longtime presence in the MCU, we share the unfortunate news that Thunderbolt Ross actor, William Hurt, sadly passes away at the age of 71.
Deadline has recently reported the tragic news that Hurt, who joined the Marvel family in 2008, has unfortunately passed away.
A continued presence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Hunt first appeared in The Incredible Hulk and acted as the entity that tried vehemently to bring down the monstrous Hulk.
Despite the film only slightly carrying over characters onto the main MCU, Hunt was a consistent presence within the MCU and represented a lot of the bidding of the government that reared its head throughout various MCU conflicts.
The iconic actor reprised his role in Captain America: Civil War in 2016, and acted as one of the main villains of the film; presenting the Sokovia Accords to the Avengers team, inciting the fracture within their relationship.
Following the events of that film, led to Hurt’s Ross maintaining the position against the Avengers, appearing in Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame, with his final appearance in the MCU taking place in Black Widow; hunting down those who stood against him in Civil War.
The actor leaves behind a son who shared a beautiful statement via Deadline, that stated:
It is with great sadness that the Hurt family mourns the passing of William Hurt, beloved father and Oscar winning actor, on March 13, 2022, one week before his 72nd birthday.
He died peacefully, among family, of natural causes.The family requests privacy at this time.
The beloved actor was diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer that had spread to the bone, which was announced in May 2018.
Hurt’s iconic career spanned over four decades, and over 100 movies, including beloved roles in popular films like Lost In Space (1998), and Robin Hood (2010).
The adored actor was nominated for four Academy Awards, including three consecutive nominations from 1985-1987, winning the Oscar for Best Actor in 1987 for his performance in Kiss of the Spider Woman. Our thoughts are with the Hurt family today, as we honor his tremendous legacy.
