This month fans finally saw the arrival of the first Thor: Love and Thunder trailer that showcased the latest in the character’s decade-plus journey in the MCU.

Arriving with the original trinity of characters, Thor has become one of Marvel’s most beloved and has grown exponentially since his earliest days in the cinematic universe.
Starting as a true adaptation of the character from the comic books, Taika Waititi-helmed Thor: Ragnarok changes everything for the character; presenting an emotional complex being that was never afraid to be the butt of the joke.

Now, Thor will be the first character to embrace a fourth solo film in the MCU, as the post- Avengers: Endgame version of the character will make way for something brand new.

The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a joruney unlike anything hes ever faced- a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks extinction of the gods.
To combat the threa, Thor enlists the help of King Valkryie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi), and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who- to Thor’s suprise- inexplicably weilds his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor.

What is interesting about the official synopsis is that it is sure to note that Thor has actually retired from battle; an act that is interrupted by the arrival of Gorr and his crusade against the gods.
