James Gunn Calls Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 “Bigger in every way”
It is easily among the most anticipated projects of the MCU’s Phase Five slate, and it will likely feature the end of an era for the MCU; but it is one entry that is sure to not disappoint, as director James Gunn calls Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 “bigger in every way.”
When it comes to the vast history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and their past 29 entries, there are few that are as unanimously adored as both of the Guardians of the Galaxy film; as their creativity and contribution to the universe as a whole set them apart from their MCU counterparts.
That is, mostly, due to the creative brilliance and overall willingness of director James Gunn to embrace his creativity, and take the necessary risks, to help to define an entire cosmic realm of the MCU; something he brilliantly achieved in the franchise’s first two installments.
Now, a third of the trilogy is almost upon us, and with the film likely an end of a Marvel era- with all of the original team members likely moving on- James Gunn has called Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 “Bigger in every way,” as he spoke about the upcoming final installment of his series.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Gunn stated, “This is a much bigger movie than the other two movies, and it’s a much more emotional movie than the other two movies, and it’s a longer movie than the other two movies- it’s bigger in every way.”
Gunn added It was really comfortable actually… I’m really familiar with the actors, so I know what they have to do.” Gunn then stated, with a laugh, “They’ve gotten better at their jobs so that I don’t have to base them around so much.”
“In a lot of ways, it was really easy= its really natural for me.” the director concluded, “I understand this. But I’m also really pushing myself and trying to create something completely different from what came before it, but that also honors what came before it.”
Any way that you dissect this incoming third film, it will likely be the biggest and most complete Guardians of the Galaxy entry that we’ve had; with its only detriment being that it will conclude one of Marvel’s greatest franchises.
