One Marvel Name is the Most Popular Among New Parents… and You Won’t Believe it
It is common for pop culture to find a very sacred place in our lives, and it has become even more common for these fictional characters to influence us so much we pass their names on to our children; one Marvel name is the most popular among new parents, but you won’t believe who it is…
One trip down the pantheon of Marvel heroes, and you come across some of the comic book industry’s most adored and righteous creations; true heroes who stood for what is right fought against the villainous, and always represented the potential for a humanity that is just and good.
Heroes like Peter Parker, who has been iconic in the comic book world since his inception 60 years ago, and whose alternate identity as Spider-Man has been among the most beloved fictional characters to ever grace the medium.
Or Steve Rogers, who has used the mantle of Captain America to represent all that is good about the truest ideals of a nation defined by its goodness, inclusivity, and commitment to true and non-influenced justice that protects everyone, and enables rights for all people.
Those are names that one can easily envision being the name of their child, or a friend’s child, but it seems that today’s parents have a little bit different an idea on what they want to name their kids, as a recent study has suggested that one Marvel name is the most popular among new parents…
That name is Thanos.
The study that was reported by ComicBook.com, and stated that- you guessed it- Thanos has jumped 2,892 places in the Social Security Administrations Name Popularity Index for the past couple of years; with the jump taking place after Avengers: Infinity War was originally released in theaters.
Based on that same study, Thanos is now the 9th- yes, you read that right- most popular baby name based on a character owned by the Walt Disney Company; behind names like Quill (for Peter Quill), Kristoff, Aladdin, Belle, and Simba.
We’re not sure why people are naming their children after a genocidal mad Titan committed to ending the lives of half of existence, but to each their own I suppose.
