‘She/Hulk’ Director Says Season 1’s Final Episodes are “Not What You Expect”
The first season of the MCU’s latest series may only have four episodes left, but She/Hulk director Anu Valia says that Season 1’s Final Episodes are “Not what you expect.”
The newest Marvel hero is here, and she is unlike any character that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has introduced in the past.
Jennifer Walters has long been one of Marvel’s most beloved and interesting characters, and although there was a lot of trepidation from fans as to how the MCU would approach her adaption, it has been brilliant to this point.
Not only has Tatiana Maslany proven to be a massive star for Marvel Studios- proving to be an invaluable part of the universe moving forward- but the creative team has continually crafted a brilliant series.
Director Kat Coiro, Anu Vaila, and writer Jessica Gao have brilliantly crafted a story that explores the duality of Jennifer Walter’s burden as a hero and a lawyer, the comedy of a world as robust and vibrant as the MCU, and some of the best side characters we have ever seen.
In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, however, She/Hulk director Anu Vaila says that Season 1’s final episodes are “Not what you expect.”
Vaila stated, “Yeah, I’m just excited. I think where the rest of the season goes is so fun and different, and ideally not what you expect. And so I’m hoping people are surprised and a little like, ‘Oh, they’re having some fun with this.’ So just keep watching it. I really think it’ll be fun. I hope people like it.”
The director added, “I’m not going to share any spoilers, because I think you’ll love to watch, And genuinely, I think It’ll be fun to go on that journey with her, but I think whats beautiful about the show is it’s so funny.”
Vaila concluded, “And then in addition to that, the show is very interested in exploring these very complicated ideas of identity. And how do you own an identity that’s been thrust on you where at times you like it, but at times make you feel bad about the other side of yourself?”
