Fall Out Boy’s STUMP Performs New Spidey Theme!
In a post made to the official Marvel website, Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump, the composer and songwriter for the new show Marvel’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends, arriving on Disney Junior this summer, performed his new Spidey theme song.
You’ll want to hear this one, Marvel Blog True Believers, so take a listen below:
Fall Out Boy
Stump is the composer and songwriter for the series, Marvel’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends, which is the first full-length Marvel series for preschoolers. About working on the show’s music, he said, “As a lifelong Marvel fan, this is a dream come true for me, and I can’t wait for kids and families, including my own kids, to see the show when it premieres this summer.”
The theme song itself features Peter Parker, Miles Morales, and Gwen Stacey – your friendly neighborhood spiders!
This thwip-tastic song is the perfect update to the legendary Spidey theme song that we all know and love (and which was appropriated by Doreen Green on more than one occasion for an Unbeatable parody).
Look Out, Radioactive Man!
You may know Stump from his work with Fall Out Boy (and by the way, the band’s bassist Pete Wentz named his baby Marvel Jane).
However, what we especially love about Stump’s superheroic connection is that the name of his band is a comic book reference… by way of Springfield, USA!
The band Fall Out Boy was named for a character from The Simpsons! In the world of Springfield, Comic Book Guy sells copies of Radioactive Man at the local comic shop, The Android’s Dungeon. In this series, Radioactive Man’s sidekick is named Fall Out Boy.
Now, Stump has come full circle, writing the music for an animated superhero show. Jiminy jillikers, that’s a good twist!
Immortals
And this isn’t the first time Stump has worked with Marvel on a project. He also wrote, performed, and produced the song “Immortals,” which was released on the soundtrack for Big Hero 6.
Fall Out Boy even released an official music video for the song, which even included a record that looked just like Baymax! Check it out for yourself below:
