POP ROUND-UP: State of the Marvel Funko Pop!
Funko Pop! has really been making a come back lately, with a ton of great designs for all the new movies and television shows currently in the works at Marvel Studios including What If…? on Disney+ and the upcoming Spider-Man 3: No Way Home… and well, some are just great designs of things to come (hey, a person can hope, am I right? Cap Wolf, anyone? anyone?)
Drum roll please: I’ve rounded up some of my favorite Funko Pop! new (and recent) releases from across the Marvel Multiverse, and I really hope The Watcher would be proud.
The No Way Home Pops (My Faves)
First up, because these are the Funkos that are on everyone’s mind the past couple of days (you know, after the leak, and no it wasn’t Tom Holland‘s fault this time), are the Spider-Man: No Way Home Funko Pops!
First up, Columbia Doctor Strange gets the Funko treatment in this new design, Funko POP! Marvel: Spider-Man No Way Home – Doctor Strange, now available for pre-order from Target for $8.99.
And then, fans also get a better look at a Peter Parker’s new suit in the latest design, Funko POP! Marvel: Spider-Man No Way Home – Spider-Man Black & Gold Suit, which comes in two sizes: one standing at 4.15″ tall for $8.99 and 10″ Jumbo Pop! for $29.99, both available from Target.
Last Week’s Eternals Funko Drop
Like clockwork, Funkos were released the day after the new Eternals trailer debuted. But, last week, Marvel Blog unfortunately missed out on the big Funko Pop! announcement featuring the amazing ensemble cast of the upcoming Marvel Studios film from director Chloé Zhao, Eternals, so we are here with the news this week… because time works differently when you’re eternal.
The star-studded ensemble cast receiving the Funko treatment includes Lia McHugh as Sprite (two versions, with a BAM! exclusive), Salma Hayek as Ajak, Barry Keoghan as Druig, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, and Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos (in two forms, with a FYE exclusive).
Also getting the Funko treatment for Eternals are Gemma Chan as Sersi (in both her hot librarian costume and her hot superhero costume), Angelina Jolie as Thena, Richard Madden as Ikaris, as well as what looks to be some type of mysterious alien.
Finally, the round of recently announced Eternals Funko Pop! figures includes Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Ma Dong-seok as Gilgamesh (yes, that Gilgamesh) and his hand even glows to remind you of how far we’ve come since Iron Fist (except for Colleen, she was great).
Also thanks to the Funko Pop! figure release we now have confirmation that one of the Celestials will indeed be Arishem, and the other Funko figure released is Kor (and full disclosure, this is a Marvel knowledge whole for me, Marvel Blog True Believers, so more on Kor to come).
FunKon 2021
Then, if you can still get your hands on them the virtual FunKon 2021 event had some amazing merch this year, and last I checked the prices were pretty reasonable… so we’re still going to include these exclusives in this round-up (they are that cool)!
The first round of figures for the event were only available for purchase from Funko.com, and included Thor, the die-cast Captain America, Marvel Battleworld Iron Man, and Galactus (who even comes with a li’l Silver Surfer).
However, FunKon 2021 also included exclusive merch from other locations. As usual, some of the most exciting characters and variants are exclusive to different stores, helping incentivize people to spend their dollars at the respective retailers.
For example, Blade was available exclusively at Walgreens. Considering the popularity of the Daywalker, I suspect some people will be planning Walgreens trips just for this Funko, Marvel Blog True Believers!
And then, both Falcon and Capwolf (who is exactly what he sounds like) will be available exclusively from Amazon.
What’s that? A werewolf version of Captain America delivered right to your door? And you don’t even have to summon it with the Darkhold? Truly, we are living in an age of unparalleled Marvels!
