CELEBRITY FAN CAST: This Thing… This John Cena.
In an article posted to Movieweb.com on Sunday, August 29th, 2021, The Suicide Squad star John Cena stated that he would consider playing Ben Grimm, A.K.A. the Thing, in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe adaptation of The Fantastic Four, stating that he “would consider most any-thing. I think keeping yourself open to options and different perspectives is a good way to go about life. This would simply be a thing that I would consider, because I like to keep my perspective open to new things.”
Two-memes-and-one-role: count me a fan of this fantastic celebrity fancast!
Fantastic Casting
Fan casting for The Fantastic Four is big money business – no kidding, Marvel Blog True Believers! You can place bets in Vegas on who will end up being cast as the four (plus) members of Marvel’s first superhero family.
Previously, we’ve reported on some speculation surrounding the cast of F4, which we know will be coming before too long (as the logo was featured during the Phase Four segment of Disney Investor Day in December 2020).
One example that some have suggested is Emily Blunt as Sue Storm, and now, Cena has thrown his Grimm-style fedora into the ring, as well!
Cena Loves Silly Hats
Cena has a slamming career as an American professional wrestler, actor, television presenter, and musician.
You’ve most recently seen Cena as Peacemaker in The Suicide Squad, directed by Marvelous James Gunn, in which Cena wore a helmet that another character compared to a toilet seat.
And he isn’t done wearing that seat, either: he’ll next reprise the role of Peacemaker in the eponymous spinoff series on HBO Max.
But if he’s willing to wear a toilet seat in order to be a superhero, surely the rocky prosthetics required to play the Thing are within the realm of possible costume choices!
Fantastic Forthcoming
Who do you want to see in the role of Ben Grimm? How about Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Mr. Fantastic? Are you a fan of the Thing, and if so, will you be picking up his upcoming comic run?
We’re waiting to hear from you, Marvel Blog True Believers! Let us know what you’re thinking in the comment section.
