2021’s Top 5 Most Marvelous Creatures
2021 was quite a year, Marvel Blog True Believers! Not only did we get four new big-screen entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we also got the inaugural MCU shows on Disney+! Along with a whole host of new and returning super heroes, these stories also brought us a selection of incredible new Marvelous creatures!
Here are Marvel Blog’s Top 5 Most Marvelous Creatures for 2021!
-
Redwing
In Captain America and the Winter Soldier, viewers were reminded that as Falcon, Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) had a sidekick: a robotic drone he called Redwing. Sadly, Redwing was destroyed during the events of the streaming show’s first season…
But when Cap got a new costume at the end of the season, it came with a new version of Redwing. Hey, it’s no vampire avian, but we’ll take what we can get!
-
Sparky
In the fifth episode of WandaVision, the inaugural MCU show on Disney+, Wanda’s children, Tommy and Billy, adopt a new pet: a puppy named Sparky! However, he doesn’t survive the episode… and in the very next chapter, “Breaking the Fourth Wall,” we learn that he was killed by Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn), who was probably trying to figure out whether or not things created by Wanda in the Hex were mortal or not.
Sparky was based on the comic book character of the same name, a biological canine who dies in 2015’s The Vision #6 by Tom King, Gabriel Walta, Jordie Bellaire, and Clayton Cowles, with a cover by Mike del Mundo, but who is subsequently resurrected as a robotic version of himself.

Hit-Monkey
In Hit-Monkey on Hulu, a hitman played by Jason Sudeikis is murdered in the Japanese moutains… and his killers also murder the monkey family of the eponymous Hit-Monkey (Fred Tatasciore)! Soon, Hit-Monkey has joined forces with the ghost of the hitman in order to take down the criminal forces who took their respective lives away.
One of the best parts about this show is the fact that Hit-Monkey has conversations with plenty of other creatures… but rather than hearing this dialogue aloud, the show gives us on-screen writing that shows what the animals are saying. This leads to some incredible conversations (especially between Hit-Monkey and a pet cat)!
-
Alligator Loki
In the penultimate episode of Loki on Disney+, “Time Variance Authority” Variant Loki (Tom Hiddleston) has been transported to The Void, a location at the end of time where anything that has been pruned by the TVA ends up. There, he is fully introduced to multiple other Loki Variants… including Alligator Loki!
This scene-stealing variant even got the chance to chomp on the hand of President Loki. Will we see more of him in future seasons of Loki? Let’s hope so, Marvel Blog True Believers!

Morris
But there’s only one creature who be considered the top contender for Marvel Blog’s Top 5 Most Marvelous Creatures list for 2021: Morris the Dijiang! We first caught wind of this Marvelous Creature back in May of 2021, when he appeared alongside an action figure depicting Katy (played by Awkwafina in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) and a new LEGO set.
Six months later, we learned all the details about this fascinating creature, who is voiced by Dee Bradley Baker, when Shang-Chi was released in theaters.
Soon, #WeLoveMorris was trending, and the mythologically-inspired creature even had his own Twitter emoji. Truly, 2021 was the Year of Morris!
