‘Hawkeye’ Director Addresses Possible Season 2
One of the biggest surprises of Marvel’s 2021 slate was its most recent Disney+ series, with many of Marvel’s works on Disney+ acting on their own. In a recent interview, the Hawkeye director addresses a possible season 2.
Hawkeye was one of the more interesting Marvel ventures into the realm of long-form storytelling, featuring perhaps the most grounded narrative to date, and a consistency that puts it in a league of its own.
With the exceptional story that balances the story of Clint Barton’s well-deserved retirement and Kate Bishop’s entry into the world of heroism; Hawkeye was a story that celebrated the greatness of the past, and the brightness of the future seamlessly.
The director of the series’ six episodes, Rhys Thomas, spoke about the potential continuation of the series, something that has become rare for Marvel’s work on Disney+. Speaking with Collider, Thomas was honest about his uncertainty as well as his eagerness to continue the story.
“I cannot speak to future plans in the tradition of secrecy. Again, the show coming out, you never know how it’s going to be received and it has been amazing to see how warmly people have taken it and enjoyed it.”
Thomas continued, “It’s been great to see Hailee’s character embraced and sort of land so firmly in the MCU. I sincerely look forward to where that character goes next. And yes, I loved walking on the streets of the MCU and would gladly enjoy dong it again.”
To this point, Loki is the only Disney+ series that Marvel has gifted a second season, with Hawkeye‘s open-ended season finale pointing to the potential continuation of the story.
Regardless of whether or not Barton and Bishop return for another adventure, it is clear that Steinfeld’s Bishop is primed to have a starring role in the MCU moving forward.
