‘She/ Hulk’ Producer Fought with Kevin Feige for Weeks Over SDCC Trailer
Fans often wonder about the dynamics within a studio as big and as consistent as Marvel, and this story affirms how much collaboration actually takes place behind the scenes, as She/ Hulk producer, Jessica Gao, recounts fighting Kevin Feige for weeks over the SDCC Trailer
Marvel 2022 project slate is approaching its final few projects, and with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever slated as the final theatrical release of the year, fans can look forward to She/ Hulk as the next project in line for a release to Marvel fans.
The project is just a little over a week away, and fans are ecstatic to finally uncover the adventures of Jennifer Walters, her unique perspective, her unique struggle, and the massive amounts of characters that will be interesting with her due to her unique situation.
Walters has consistently been one of Marvel comics’ most interesting characters, whether it is because o her status as a New York City Lawyer who has a part-time gig as a crime fighter, or because of her unique ability to break the fourth wall in her stories.
The MCU is set to introduce this incredibly interesting hero to fans for the very first time, and it turns out that the creative team behind the scenes struggled with just how much they should give away before the series were set to actually air.
In a recent interview, She/ Hulk producer and head writer, Jessica Gao, recounted a fight with Studio head Kevin Feige for weeks over the contents in the San Diego Comic-Con trailer that debuted just last month.
As reported by The Direct, Gao stated, “While we were watching the trailer [at SDCC], because Kevin [Feige] was standing next to me, we had spent weeks fighting about what should go in the trailer and what shouldn’t.
Gao concluded, stating, “And so, it was just the two of us sniping at each other over our respective positions and the pieces that were in the trailer.”
It is interesting to hear the dynamics that exist behind the scenes at Marvel, and that with all of Kevin Feige’s success at the studio, he still works in collaboration with artists to uncover and contend with what’s best for the project and the characters.
