Namor Has a Chance to be one of MCU’s Greatest Villains
He is one of the most exciting debuts of a rather inconsistent Phase Four, but there is no understanding that Namor has a chance to be one of the MCU’s greatest villains.
When the Phase Four slate of films was first announced, it was very clear that the sequel to 2016 classic that was Black Panther was set to be one of the most exciting.
A film that would force the Marvel Cinematic Universe to look towards a day without T’Challa- following the tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman- this was a film that looked o Wakanda’s uncertain future and is poised with delivering the next installment of its saga.
One thing that has set up this tremendous sequel, is the vast amount of brilliant characters that are set to debut in the film, as well as some of the most tremendous characters returning after their debuts in the first film.
Heroes like Shuri, Ramonda, Okoye, Nakia, and M’Baku are joined by Riri Willams and a host of Taloconian people who represent the comic book world of the Atlantians
Of all of these characters, there may be none who can match the potential impact of Tenoch Huerta’s Namor; a debut that could make him one of the MCU’s greatest villains.
Looking back at Ryan Coogler’s previous MCU work in Black Panther, there was so much he did extremely well, but what he did perfectly developed the character of Erik Killmonger; a character that is among the best villains in the MCU’s history.
He is now primed to do that again, but this time he is given a character that is one of the longest-tenured, and most nuanced, in the history of Marvel comics.
Namor is a very unique Marvel entity because of how greatly he contrasts T’Challa, and how deep the well of his potential impacts on the narrative could be.
Tenoch Huerta is a tremendous actor, and his adaptation seems to be working perfectly towards building a very unique take on the character; a take that, in the end, could be one of the greatest antagonists that Marvel has ever had.
