Marvel’s 616 to Debut in November
Yesterday, we reported that WandaVision will premiere on Disney+ before the end of the year. Today, we are excited to share that Marvel’s 616 has secured a debut date of Friday, November 20.
About the New Series
The docuseries will explore “how Marvel’s rich legacy of stories, characters and creators exist within the world outside your window.” Each episode is directed by a different filmmaker, all of whom are Marvel fans.
Marvel’s 616 will cover a broad range of content. To start, the series will showcase trailblazing women at Marvel comics, as well as artists who draw comics and work on the enterprise’s films.
It will also delve further into little or unknown characters, as well as many other topics to go behind the scenes and share previously untold stories with the public.
A Sneak Peek
To date, Marvel has released two clips from the series. The first, edited by Gillian Jacobs of Community is titled “Higher, Further, Faster.” Fans will recognize this as Captain Marvel’s catchphrase. The episode features interviews with pioneering women behind the scenes at Marvel.
In the clip, Marvel Entertainment Vice President Sana Manat explains the overwhelmingly positive response to Brie Larson and Captain Marvel. She goes on to share that positive response led to doing much more with other female heroes at Marvel.
The second clip released is from an episode titled “Lost and Found,” directed by Big Mouth’s Paul Scheer. This episode will take a closer look at classic Marvel characters who may have – at one point or another – been deemed “forgotten.”
As Sheer investigates several of these characters and their rise to mainstream popularity, he discovers what makes a great Marvel character.
