Benedict Cumberbatch Reveals Doctor Strange 2 Filming Schedule!

Benedict Cumberbatch has revealed that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is currently in pre-production!

In an interview with WatchTime (via Fandom), Cumberbatch stated that he is currently in pre-production on the sequel.  He went on to share that filming is expected to begin “in late October or early November.”

Moving Forward in the Time of COVID

Disney has pushed its entire release calendar back, but it should please fans to hear that production has not stopped. Disney has twice delayed it’s last remaining 2020 Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Black Widow, which will now premiere on May 7, 2021.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings recently resumed production in Australia and now it sounds like Doctor Strange 2 filming will begin before the end of the year.

What Do We Know About the Sequel?

Not much has been revealed about Doctor Strange 2. We do, however, know that Elizabeth Olsen is expected to co-star as Scarlet Witch. We also know that the film will somehow tie in to the Marvel Studios Disney+ series WandaVision, set to make its debut later this year.

The film will be directed by Sam Raimi and the script is being rewritten by Michael Waldron (who is also writing on the Disney+ series Loki).

No actors, other than Cumberbatch and Olsen, have been announced. If filming does begin this month, we’ll likely hear about who else is set to appear in the cast.
