WandaVision’s Style Reminiscent of The Office
Kevin Feige has shared more news about the upcoming Disney+ series, WandaVision. Feige revealed that the series was filmed in a mock documentary style, similar to The Office and Modern Family.
Feige Shares More Details About WandaVision
In a recent interview with Empire, Feige talked more about WandaVision‘s influences and styles. He has revealed that the six-episode series will boast “mockumentary” techniques reminiscent of modern sitcoms. The series will also honor classic sitcoms from the 1950’s, 1960’s, and 1970’s.
Feige shared, “I loved TV, and watched far too much The Dick Van Dyke Show and I Love Lucy and Bewitched and everything. We go up to the Modern Family and The Office style. The talk-to-the-camera, shaky-camera, documentary style.”
What Can We Expect?
WandaVision will take a closer look at the relationship between Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, and Vision, played by Paul Bettany. The show will focus on the pair spanning different eras. From the black-and-white family sitcoms of the 1950’s and 1960’s to the “groovier” 1960’s/1970’s time frame and classic 1980’s to the “TGIF” 1990’s.
To better embody these classic sitcom styles, WandaVision even filmed some scenes in front of a live, studio audience!
We know that the series will explore Scarlett Witch’s back story and, according to Feige, the character’s “ill-defined and unexplored” powers.
Commenting on the star of the series Feige shares:
“If you look at the Infinity Saga, I don’t think any single person has gone through more pain and trauma than Wanda Maximoff. And no character seems to be as powerful as Wanda Maximoff. And no character has a power-set that is as ill-defined and unexplored as Wanda Maximoff. So it seemed exploring that would be worthwhile post-Endgame. Who else is aware of that power? Where did it come from? Did the Mind Stone unlock it?”
As more details emerge, fan excitement for the series is mounting. Do you plan to tune in on January 15, 2021?
