Major Marvel Moment Attributed to Fan Theories!
This week, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn admitted that a major Marvel moment at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was taken from fan theories!
About the Infamous Scene
The scene we are discussing takes place after the credits of Guardians of the Galaxy 2. In it, Stan Lee makes a cameo that changes the way we look at all of his other cameos!

The scene features Stan Lee wearing a space suit and conversing with The Watchers. The Watchers are a group of extraterrestrials charged with keeping watch and recording the goings on of the multiverse. This scene ties together all of Lee’s previous Marvel film cameos, basically confirming his role as a Watcher.
The idea apparently came from fans!

Gunn first credited the moment to fan theory last July. Then again, on Tuesday, Gunn responded to a fan about this specific Lee cameo. He stated:
“I stole the idea from fan theories on Twitter, which I thought were hilarious.”
So congratulations, Marvel fans! You all helped shape an underlying purpose for Lee’s cameos throughout the films!

As many fans know, James Gunn co-wrote and directed the first Guardians of the Galaxy film, which was released in August 2014. He went on to write and direct the next two films, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, as well as The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.

Gunn became the third Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) director to play a role in his films (the first being John Favreau, who portrays Happy Hogan in several MCU films, and the second being Joe Russo, who has several cameos across the films). Gunn plays Maskless Saharan in Guardians of the Galaxy, did on-set dance moves for Baby Groot during the dance sequence at the beginning of Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and acts as a member of The Sneepers in the music video for Guardians Inferno.
Gunn has cast several family members – including his dog – in small roles in his films. His brother, Sean Gunn, plays Kraglin in the Guardians movies.
