Marvel’s Marvelous Events for February 22nd – 28th

If you are still stuck inside – because of the national-level quarantine-style staycation – then check out these marvelous virtual events celebrating Marvel Comics and entertainment from around the inter-webs.
2/25 – Deadpool Nerdy Thirty Live Virtual Event
This week, Marvel Comics and Marvel Unlimited is holding a virtual event celebrating the the Merc with a Mouth’s 30th birthday on Thursday, February 25th at 7PM ET.

The event will feature the creators and industry legends who have worked on Wade Wilson throughout the character’s three decade history, including Fabian Nicieza, Ed McGuinness, Joe Kelly, Gail Simone, Daniel Way, Gerry Duggan, Brian Posehn, Mike Hawthorne, and Rob Liefeld. Additionally, fans (sorry, but this is 16+) will be treated to exclusive reveals about the character based on the history of Deadpool collectibles, comics, and more.
The event is for Marvel Unlimited Annual Plus members; however, there are a limited number of tickets available to people who are not members for $20 on Showclix.
2/25 – Writing Marvel’s Black Panther: Sins of the King
Since the beginning of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the New York Public Library has been putting on virtual events to bring people together through their love of reading. This week, the NYPL is hosting two of the co-authors of the newest audio drama from Serial Box titled Black Panther: Sins of the King by Steven Barnes, Tananarive Due, Geoffrey Thorne, and Nic Stone, for a virtual panel on February 25th at 8PM ET.

In the latest from Marvel, an army of the undead will threaten Wakanda in the new serialized standalone Black Panther story, which was written collaboratively by the multiple project authors, each writing different chapters.
Barnes and Due – who are presenting at the NYPL virtual panel – will take turns discussing the somewhat unique collaborative writing process, and how it impacted the end result. Click here to register for the event, which will be live streamed on Zoom and simulcast to YouTube.
2/27 – X-Men: The Animated Series Virtual Experience Events
Since the beginning of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, GalaxyCon has branched out its virtual events programming so that fans can continue to get the convention experience in these trying times. Although there are numerous FREE panels to sign-up for on a weekly basis, this week, the con is hosting the cast of 1992’s X-Men: The Animated Series on February 27th at 6PM EST.

The featured celebrities at the GalaxyCon panel are Cal Dodd (Wolverine), Chris Potter (Gambit), Alison Sealy-Smith (Storm), Lenore Zann (Rogue), George Buza (Beast), Chris Britton (Mr. Sinister), Ron Rubin (Morph), and Larry Houston (Writer/Director of X-Men: The Animated Series).
After watching a virtual panel with the celebrities (that typically runs for about an hour), fans then have an opportunity to pay an additional fee for one-on-one video chats with their favorite stars or to buy a personalized autograph.
2/26 – 2/28 – Upstart Arts Presents Squirrel Girl Goes to College
Are you missing live theater? Well, this weekend there is a virtual solution supporting an all-volunteer theater collective, Upstart Arts, in York, Pennsylvania. Upstart Arts is presenting the Marvel Spotlight play Squirrel Girl Goes to College by Karen Zacarias for three online performances on Friday, Feb. 26 (7PM EST), and Saturday, Feb. 27 (3PM EST), and Sunday, Feb. 28 (3PM EST).
