Wong is Reportedly Returning in ‘Deadpool 3’
One of the most important characters of the MCU’s Phase Four is seemingly remaining as the centerpiece of he has been, as Wong is reportedly set to return in the recently announced Deadpool 3.
Throughout the many comic book adaptations that are released in any given year, there are few that have connected with audiences on the level of the Merc with a Mouth, Deadpool.
Debuting as a crucial part of Fox’s X-Men film universe, the character quickly connected with audiences for his self-aware brand of comedy, over-the-top violence, and fourth-wall breaking that was unlike anything that comic book film fans had seen before.
With the Fox acquisition, Deadpool is now set to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and with many fans anxious about when that appearance would materialize after a long period of no updates, they finally got their answer.
Ryan Reynolds took to Twitter to announce that the third installment of the character’s film franchise would be coming in September of 2024, but more importantly, that installment would feature the return f one of the most iconic comic book heroes, Wolverine.
Hugh Jackman may not be the only massive hero to make their presence known in the film, however, as a current MCU fan favorite, Wong is reportedly set to be a part of Deadpool 3
Although the news has not been confirmed in any way, it would make a lot of sense that the Sorcerer Supreme would be present in a film that will likely involve the multiverse in one way or another.
There are few characters that have benefitted from Phase Four in the way that Wong has, becoming a crucial member of the MCU, and establishing himself as this era’s Nick Fury.
Having Wong interact with Wade Wilson would create an interesting dynamic for the heroes, and could be the throughline that brings Deadpool back for the two Avengers films planned to bookend the highly-anticipated Phase Six.
