Captain Marvel 2: Zawe Ashton Cast As Villain
According to a report from Deadline, Zawe Ashton (Velvet Buzzsaw, Greta, Wanderlust) has been cast as the villain in the upcoming Captain Marvel 2 from Marvel Studios.
Who’s Zawe Ashton?
Ashton first appeared on the TV series Fresh Meat, a British comedy-drama series. The show follows six students in their freshman year at a fictional university, and their experience living in off-campus housing (an experience that’s very relatable to many).

Recently, she appeared in the Broadway revival of Betrayal, in which she starred opposite fellow MCU alum Tom Hiddleston (who will next be seen on the upcoming Disney+ series, Loki) and Charlie Cox (who appeared in Netflix’s Daredevil, and is rumored to be returning to the MCU).

What’s Captain Marvel 2?
Captain Marvel 2 will feature the return of Brie Larson as Carol Danvers (A.K.A. Captain Marvel). Plus, it’ll feature the reappearance of Teyhonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, a role she is currently portraying on the ongoing WandaVision Disney+ series, and Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan (A.K.A. Ms. Marvel), a role she will play on the upcoming Ms. Marvel Disney+ series.

Nia DaCosta, who is directing the upcoming Candyman reboot, will be directing the forthcoming Captain Marvel 2 film. Also, Marvel Studios hired Megan McDonnell, a story editor on the ongoing WandaVision, to write the script.
What Role Will Ashton Play in Captain Marvel 2?
Although it is not currently known which villain Ashton will be portraying in the sequel to 2019’s Captain Marvel, you can bet they will be a cosmic level threat – after all, as FBI Agent Jimmy Woo (Randall Park) pointed out On a Very Special Episode of WandaVision just last week, aside from Scarlet Witch, Captain Marvel was one of the few characters who was able to hold her own against Thanos in the climactic battle of 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.

Of course, while Deadline notes that their source says that Ashton will be the primary villain of Captain Marvel 2, it’s always possible there’s an additional antagonist lurking in the shadows, just out of sight. So then, who knows what kind of threats are lying in wait for the Marvelous team of superheroes?
