WandaVision Trailer Breaking Records & Generating Excitement!
Disney+/Marvel’s WandaVision trailer has been viewed online by more than 53 million people since its Sunday premiere during the Primetime Emmy Awards. This is believed to be the most traffic ever for a streaming service advertising spot!
A Groundbreaking Premiere
The official WandaVision series trailer has had over 303,000 social mentions since it aired. It began trending on Twitter immediately following its premiere on Sunday night and even rose to #2 on YouTube trending videos!
Following the 60-second advertising spot on the Emmy’s, Disney+ released the full length piece, which has left fans puzzled and wanting more!
More Revelations About WandaVision
WandaVision will be the first Marvel Studios series to appear on Disney+ later this year. It will also mark the first time two recently acquired properties – the Fantastic Four and X-Men – enter into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
For the first time, the full trailer offers viewers a glimpse of S.W.O.R.D., a fictional counterterrorism and intelligence agency which originated in an X-Men comic book. Standing for Sentient World Observation and Response Department, S.W.O.R.D. once counted a founding X-Man among its ranks.
Actress Kathryn Hahn also appears in the trailer, presumably as a “nosy neighbor.” Comic book fans have surmised that Hahn’s role will be that of Agatha Harkness. Harkness is a centuries-old witch who first appears in Fantastic Four.
In the pages of the comic, Sue and Reed Richards discover the ancient sorceress’ powerful witchcraft after entrusting her to care for their newborn son. She also appears in Vision and the Scarlet Witch serving as a mentor for Wanda Maximoff, a.k.a. the Scarlet Witch, who eventually becomes pregnant with twins.
Harkness goes on to appear in several other Marvel Universe comics. Her role in WandaVision is not yet clear, but fans are excited about the possibilities represented by her presence in the trailer.
Fans Can’t Wait
One thing is certain – fan anticipation is ramping up. Release of the full trailer has clearly generated excitement among fans of the MCU and beyond.
Even Paul Bettany, who stars in the series as Vision, commented on Twitter in response to comic book super-fan Kevin Smith. He said, “It gets more and more bonkers.”
