She-Hulk Expected to Begin Production in 2021!
Production for She-Hulk is expected to begin in February 2021! News broke earlier today on The Direct.
The Disney+ series was originally supposed to begin production on July 6, but was delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic. We know that the script was completed several months ago and it now looks like the studio has a production schedule mapped out.
According to the report, She-Hulk is scheduled to begin filming in Atlanta, GA. Atlanta is where most of the Marvel Studios Disney+ series have and will continue to film, including The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, Loki, and Hawkeye.
Who Will Star in She-Hulk?
Now that we know production is set to begin, it’s only a matter of time before we discover who will play the MCU’s mighty green superheroine. We can likely expect an official announcement from Marvel Studios by the end of the year.
Alison Brie has been widely rumored to play the lead role, but we have not received official confirmation as of yet.
In other breaking news, we learned today that Kat Coiro is in negotiations to direct the pilot and several other episodes of She-Hulk. Not only that, Coiro will also serve as an executive producer on the series.
Coiro’s next film is scheduled for Valentine’s Day 2021. Titled Marry Me, the film stars Jennifer Lopez, Owen Wilson and Sarah Silverman. Coiro has directed numerous TV shows including Netflix’s Dead To Me, Showtime’s Shameless and FX’s It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, along with Modern Family and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Jessica Gao, known for her work on Rick and Morty, is writing the script. Mark Ruffalo is confirmed to appear as Bruce Banner. Previous reports have stated the character Thunderbolt Ross may also make an appearance, as well as the potential debut of Ross’ alter-ego, Red Hulk.
What We Know
With She-Hulk set to begin filming in early 2021, all signs point to Marvel Studios being back on track to resume the production side of its Phase 4 series slate. Filming for both The Falcon and the Winter Solider and WandaVision are expected to be finished by early next year. If that is the case, other Disney+ shows like Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk will begin production. Other shows, like Loki, will resume filming after being forced to stop this Spring.
The plan currently seems to be for Loki and Hawkeye to begin filming early this Fall, with Ms. Marvel beginning shortly after in November. By the time Ms. Marvel has finished production in March 2021, She-Hulk will have already been a month into filming.
About She-Hulk
Marvel fans are well aware of She-Hulk’s background story. Jennifer Walters is an attorney and cousin of Bruce Banner, more commonly known as The Hulk. She suffers a terrible car accident and requires a blood transfusion from her cousin. The transfusion gives Walters her powers, and she holds on to her intelligence and personality when she “Hulks out.”
She-Hulk is the last major Marvel character to be co-created by the late, great Stan Lee.
We will keep you informed as more news breaks about She-Hulk and its production plans.
